“Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” - Matthew 18:18-20
The power of prayer is awesome because it is, in fact, the power of God, who hears and answers those prayers. Prayer is more than simply asking God for a favor or negotiating for something good to happen. "Prayer is an act of worship that glorifies God and reinforces our need for Him. Through living a life of prayer, we communicate with the very source of and purpose for our existence." (Christianity.com)
The St. Michael the Archangel Prayer Line Ministry has been in operation for close to 40 years and has been praying for the petitions of all who make a request. The ministry began as an offshoot from the Women’s Guild meetings where prayer needs were included in the closing prayer. From there it grew to a petition list, then a phone tree. Today, prayer requests are accepted via phone or email and here, through the parish website.
Close to 100 members of our prayer team pray for the petitions distributed to them via email each day. It is a simple, yet powerful way to make a difference in the lives of others. In 2023, over 1,300 petitions were prayed for by this group. What a wonderful blessing it is to have such a large group praying for you. The most satisfying result for our team is when petitioners return for prayers of thanksgiving following a positive outcome after they've been prayed for by the group.
Are you or a loved one in need of prayers? Allow our dedicated prayer team to pray for your petitions.
